You may wonder whether to use a white screen or a test pattern when measuring flicker. In fact, the degree of flicker observed can vary depending on the display technology used, viewing angle, static test pattern, color, and/or drive level. Therefore, there is no universal optimal measurement setup for evaluating display flicker. According to the regulations of the International Committee for Display Metrology (ICDM), the nominal test pattern is a full-screen white screen at maximum drive.
